“It feels like home, because it is!”

Pumpkin Patch Learning Academy is a home-based Spanish Immersion daycare and pre-school founded by a former bilingual kindergarten teacher, native Spanish speaker, youth mentor and mother of two wonderful children. Our mission is to serve the needs of every child, family and community in a nurturing, educational, and multicultural environment. The children will learn Spanish and engage in Latino culture through song, dance, and visual arts. Our goal is for every child to acquire proficient English language, self-help and social-emotional skills in preparation for Kindergarten. PPLA offers research-based preschool activities in a nurturing and home-like environment. We want every child to develop a love of learning through play exploration and “hands on” activities. We provide an engaging, developmental and play-based program that entails the following:

Literacy Development (Storytelling)
90% Spanish/10% English Immersion Program
Basic Writing Development (Art Journals)
Math & Science Lab (Cooking & Gardening)
World Arts & Cultures (History & Ethnic Visual Arts)
Music Appreciation & Movement (Yoga & Dance)
Problem Solving & Imaginative Play (Storybook Theater)
Outdoor Play (Water/Sand Play, Summer Program)
Parent Participation Field Trips/School Functions

**If you have any questions and/or to schedule a visit, please contact Cynthia Riemann at cynthia_reimann@yahoo.com. Facility tours are given every Wednesday at 4:00-4:30pm with email RSVP. PPLA is located in Oakland within the neighborhood of Bella Vista (Brooklyn) and within walking distance to Lake Merritt (close to Lakeshore BART station, downtown Oakland, & Lake Merritt).
***PPLA conducts weekly school tours on Monday at 4:30Pm. School tours run for approximately 30 minutes and all family adults are welcome to attend. We ask that parents find alternative child care for their child so that parents may get the most out of the informational tour (child care may be available). After touring PPLA for the first time, parents are invited to return with their child to attend an observational play-date. Play-dates are also conducted weekly.

The final step in the enrollment process would be to meet with the head of school and review enrollment paper-work. This is also a good time to answer any pending questions about the daycare and preschool. This meeting may last up to an hour and parents are encouraged to find alternative child care for their child (child care may be available, if needed).

~You may be placed on the waiting list by filling out an application of interest, along with a non-refundable and yearly personal check for $25.00. We enroll students into the school on a first come and first serve basis, along with keeping in mind other important factors such as compatible child care scheduling needs, commencement date, gender, age, and bilingualism. If you would like a copy of the application of interest, you must attend the school tour and turn in the application and waiting list fee at that point, or mail in the paper work at a later time.
